You Can Easily Add Images to Microsoft Powerpoint Templates

Most people can put together a basic PowerPoint pretty easily. However, it’s not uncommon to find someone avoiding use of some PowerPoint tools because they’re uncertain how to go about it. Let’s take a look at one of the easier things you can do to enhance Microsoft PowerPoint templates and your own slide designs. Read on to find out how easy it is to insert images as objects or backgrounds.

Inserting Images into Microsoft PowerPoint Templates

First choose a photo or clip art that follows your presentation theme. If you need help finding a theme read the recent post, PowerPoint Slide Themes: How to Find, Choose and Use Them. Then make sure your image is saved in one of the following formats:

  • JPEG
  • BMP
  • EMF
  • GIG
  • PNG

If your image is saved in another format. don’t worry. You can change it over to the desired format with a converter.

Next go to the Insert tab on the PowerPoint menu. You will notice that it is possible to insert a variety of images. Click on Picture and it will bring up the Picture Files on your computer. Open the photo and it will appear on your slide. Now you can move, shrink or enlarge the photo on the slide. You can also drag and drop the photo from the Picture Files if you prefer.

Clip art works the same way. Click on Insert from the PowerPoint menu toolbar. Go to the Insert tab. Click on Clip Art. A search bar will appear to the right of the screen and you can choose your image. Open the image and it will appear on your slide. You can move, shrink or enlarge the image just like you did with your photo. You can even add screenshots and other images the same way you add photos and clip art. The option is on the Insert menu.

Changing PowerPoint Slide Backgrounds

Need a custom background for a special slide? You can easily use a photo of your choice as the background. Go to the Design tab on the PowerPoint menu. Then click on Background Styles and Format Background. Choose Picture or Texture Fill from your list of options. Next choose Insert from File. Your photo library will pop up, and you can pick the picture you would like to use. Open the photo and it will become your background.

Clicking on Apply All will even make the photo your background for the entire slideshow. If you would rather use the photo for just the current slide’s background, simply click Close.
